Description
Center on Halsted offers affirming psychotherapy for the LGBTQ community and allies. Services are provided by staff, volunteer, and contractual psychotherapists and graduate student interns to couples, families, and individuals. Therapists are particularly sensitive to the important issues facing today’s LGBT, queer and questioning community members and caring others. Services are available in both English and Spanish.

Eligibility
-Center on Halsted is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans. Clients with other insurance plans (including Medicare and Medicaid) should contact their insurance carrier to verify coverage before scheduling a counseling appointment.
-Sliding scale fees for those without insurance are based on family size, household income, and client situation. Fees range from $10 to $120 per session. See web site for detailed fee structure. Payment is due at the time of service.
-Individuals living with HIV and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, or harassment may be eligible for grant-funded services. Please call to inquire.
-Staff Do NOT provide court mandated treatment and are unable to provide intensive substance use services .

How to Apply
Call 773-472-6469 x460 to complete a brief phone screening. If no one is available, leave a detailed message with your phone number and staff will return your call as soon as possible. After the screening, you will be matched with a therapist based on your needs and preferences. The therapist will contact you to schedule an initial appointment. Please bring the following documentation:
-Photo ID
-Insurance card, if applicable
-Proof of income, if requesting sliding scale fees
The initial session allows you to ask questions about the therapeutic process, and allows the therapist to better understand your needs. You will also discuss fees and payment arrangements.
